About Me

All About Me😁:

My name is Samantha, I am 19 years old and I'm from Farmingdale NY.  I am studying in college to be a business management major. I've always enjoyed studying business in high school because it really took my interest quickly. I hope to one day work for a major company or open my own business. I have 3 people in my family, my mom, dad and me. I also have two dogs named Clooney and Roxy who are my everything. I'm really into animals as well, I always try to help at shelters and do the best I can to help save some animals.

I'm also kinda geeky, as in, I'm a huge star wars fan and a huge Pokemon and many other games, movies and TV shows. I'm also a bowler, I've been bowling since I was 10 years old. I love to bowl especially on leagues where I have some form of competition. 

I work at the college bookstore as a bookseller and I really enjoy it.  

I really like rock and roll music rather then pop music and rap. I've also been to many concerts and festivals that were long and tiring.

Class Reflectiion

Class Reflection✎:

This English 102 class was very helpful and resourceful to me. I didn't really enjoy reading unless it was a book that I thought looked interesting or had a cool cover.  It had to be a book that really drew me into it. However, after taking this class I learned that their is more to literature then meets the eye. In high school, I only enjoyed reading Shakespeare and mythology. I still do but, I have grown a great appreciation for other types of literature. I really enjoyed this class because, I've always enjoyed English and I think I'm good at it. My favorite piece of literature that I read in English was the poem "Ah are you digging on my grave." This was my favorite piece of literature because I like the way it was told as a whole. I also thought the end was really entertaining because of the dog digging on the women's grave. My least favorite piece that I read in this class was "Ode to a Grecian Urn" because it didn't capture my attention and it was a little hard to understand for me.
Never the less, I would take this class again and I would recommend it to anyone.  Thank You Professor Candia!       

The Bowling Life

Bowling Life🎳:

Bowling has been a very big part of life. Iv'e been bowling since I was 10 years old and I loved every second of it. It took me a very long time to grasp the "real" way to bowl, bowling is a lot harder then it looks. I started on a league a few years back and I enjoyed it very much. It taught me so much about how to really bowl instead of just throwing the ball at the pins. I was on this league for about 5 years. After I got older, I went in a different direction to a different league that was way more competitive which I was looking for. I was in that league for 2 years till I wanted to have more competition. I'm now in a league that is really competitive which is a lot harder then what I'm used to but I enjoy this sport.        

Later Years

The Grimm Brothers Later Years:

As the Grimm Brothers got older, they have grown a very big interest in older language that was used in Germany compared to the modern German language that is being used today. Out of the two brothers Jakob was the one who had more of the interest in the history structure of the German language. Both brothers, but mostly Jakob were working on other languages and how they connect or sound with German language. An example would be the word "Apple" in the English language compared to the word "Apfel" that is used in the German language. The rule for each word having a connection or a relationship with one another became known as Grimm Law. 

Not too long after the creation of Grimm Law, the brothers had published their first volume of of a German dictionary in 1854. After the death of the brothers scholars wanted to finish the dictionary and later finished it in 1960 with sixteen volumes.

This quote by Jakob Grimm really caught my eye because this quote I can really relate too or many people can relate to. This quote is relatable because many people throughout there daily life go through a routine that makes life seem like it's "on repeat". After you get too comfortable with your day to day activity's, you may want to try new things or have a change in your routine, maybe even go out side your comfort zone. I can relate to this quote because I sometimes want a change in my routine where I can maybe try new things or experience new thing because I get tired of living out the same day over and over. Yes, it is life to live out your day over and over but it is also healthy to do things that are out of your routine. This philosophy is what inspired Jakob to write what he has written which makes this quote very powerful.

The Grimm Brothers Fairy tales were first published in 1812 called "Children's and Household Tales" which included about 86 different stores. The second volume to the story was published in 1814 which added 70 more stories. The Grimm brothers had their own version of each story that may have been composed already by other authors. An example would be Cinderella. Cinderella, has already been published by Charles Perrault who was a famous author in 1697 his stories were meant for aristocratic and sophisticated families  . However, The Grimm Brothers did not deem this to be a satisfactory way of telling stories, they believed that stories should be told by word of mouth from generation to generation over centuries would create different reactions and creates a better experience when the story is being told.
